After forcing entry to the business, suspects removed a sound bar from the business. A pick-up was also captured on video and Investigators would like to speak with the operator of that truck.

On 03/18/18, persons again burglarized the business removing another sound bar and cash.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving an Extreme Cruelty to Animals that occurred sometime between July 30, , 2017 and July 31, 2017. Detectives with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office responded to 634 Angel Ranch Road in reference to several cattle being shot and killed. Upon law enforcement arrival, six cattle were found deceased over two separate properties. Further investigation into this incident determined that a high caliber rifle was used within a half mile radius of two separate residences. Multiple pieces of evidence were collected from the scene and that evidence is being processed. The cows that were shot are described as a red roping steer, a black cow, a black cow with a white face, a black angus cow, another black angus cow, and a black bald cow. The total value of the
cattle is approximately $17,000 to $20,000 dollars.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving a reported Arson that occurred at 1523 S. 1st St, at the business of Southwest Body and Towing, on January 2, 2018 in Artesia New Mexico.

On January 2, 2018 at around five in the morning deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and Artesia Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a fire at the Southwest Body and Towing business which is located at 1523 S. 1st Street in Artesia, New Mexico.  Detectives met with several witnesses and the business owner about the suspicious fires.  The owner of the business advised the total value lost in this incident is about $5,000 dollars.

In recent months there have been multiple auto burglaries along with theft of construction materials from construction sites and residential areas. Smaller items have been removed from vehicles that have been left unlocked, along with several forced entries. We’ve also had a dark green 2005 Honda Rancher 4-wheeler stolen from the Calloway area. Crimestoppers of Eddy County requests your assistance in solving an Aggravated Burglary and Aggravated Battery which occurred on December 24, 2017. At approximately 8 p.m. the victims returned home to find their front door forced open. The victims entered the residence where they interrupted the suspect burglarizing the home. The victims struggled with the burglar who stabbed both victims before fleeing. The suspect is described as a male about 5’7” and stocky build. He would have injuries to his lower legs and right hand arm area resulting from the struggle. The suspect fled the scene in a 2006 or newer white four door sedan. The sedan may have damage to rear driver’s side bumper or fender area.

On January 13, 2018 between 11am and noon the victims again were burglarized. Forced entry was made through the rear door of their residence. The suspect(s) removed an Emerson Element 55” TV and Vizio sound bar.

On 3-14-2017, a burglary was reported on the 1000 block of North Francis in which firearms such as a Colt Agent 45 caliber pistol, Ruger LCP 380 caliber pistol, Sig Sauer 45 caliber pistol, Taurus Judge 45/410 caliber pistol, a Ruger LCR 380 caliber pistol, Ruger SR 22 caliber pistol, Springfield XDS pistol, a Browing Mark II 22 caliber rifle, an Apple 512 GB Macbook air laptop, Apple 12 inch Ipad, an ASUS computer, .96 carat gold ring, 1/3 carat gold bridal set ring, 14 carat gold tennis brackelet with prong set, a 14 carat gold Irish Claddagh ring, and an Eastern Star ring were taken. If anyone has information on the above-listed items that have been purchased from a private individual, a flea market, social media website, pawn shops, or know where these items might be; or the person(s) involved in this burglary contact the Carlsbad Police Department at 575-885-2111 or case agent Det. On November 23, 2017 at the 100 Block of East Castleberry in Artesia New Mexico.  On November 23, 2017 deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 Block of East Castleberry in reference to a larceny of pecans.  Upon arrival deputies met with the victim of this incident who advised they had caught an unknown male individual on the farm stealing pecans.  Surveillance cameras took a photograph of this same unknown male individual on the property while he was putting pecans in a bag.   The total value of this incident is unknown at this time.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving an Aggravated Battery with a deadly weapon that occurred on October 6, 2017 at approximately 0730 hours. On October 6, 2017 deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 7348 Roswell Highway Space # 15 in reference to shots fired.  Upon arrival at that location deputies observed a male individual, later identified as Christopher Madron, had sustained a gunshot wound.   Detectives were contacted and responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.   

During the investigation it was determined that a red colored sport utility vehicle had entered the RV Park just prior to the shooting.   Surveillance cameras show the same red colored sport utility vehicle leaving the RV Park at a high rate of speed just after the shooting was reported to the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office.     The driver of this vehicle is believed to be involved in this incident.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving Homicide that occurred on August 19, 2017 in the area of Six Mile Dam.  On August 19, 2017 at approximately 0800 hours deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Six Mile Dam in reference to a male individual who was unconscious and not breathing.   Upon arrival it was determined that the male individual, later identified as thirty eight year old Mario Hector Acosta Jr. of Portales New Mexico, was deceased.    The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division was dispatched to the scene to investigate the death.  During their investigation detectives located multiple gunshot wounds to various areas of the victim’s body.

On July 29, 2017 deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 1701 Gomez in reference to a house that had been burglarized. Upon arrival deputies determined that the suspect(s) gained access
to the home through the front door. While inside the house suspect(s) took a 32 inch ROKU television, a 52 inch Samsung television, a 22 inch HP computer, a Hilti cordless drill, a red portable compressor and various other tools that were in the residence. Suspect(s) left the residence through the back door and left the scene in an unknown direction The total loss is estimated at approximately $1975.00.

Crimestoppers of Eddy County is requesting your assistance in solving the Extreme Cruelty to Animals that occurred at 353 Dark Canyon between Tuesday June 6, 2017 and Wednesday June 7, 2017.  The victim advised that he had driven by on Tuesday in the early morning hours and the cows were all okay, on Wednesday June 7, at approximately 1:00 p.m. he again drove by and observed one cow was deceased, upon checking the cow, it was believed to have been shot in the stomach. The total loss is estimated at approximately $2,000.00.
 
The Eddy County Cattle Growers Association is offering an additional $1000.00 reward along with Crimestoppers reward for this crime.
